Vincent Van Gogh at the age of nineteen

Born in 1853, at the age of 27, Vincent Van Gogh decided to became an artist. This decision changed the history of art forever. Saying «if I felt no love for nature and my work, then I would be unhappy.», Vincent has founded peace,inspiration and consolation in Nature.

The Van Gogh Museum, has immortalized the memory of this painter with the  biggest collection of Vincent letters, paintings and drawings ever.

Permanent collection

The museum’s collection, presents more than two-hundred drawings, five-hundred paintings, and seven-hundred letters, plus works of his contemporaries and friends , Postimpressionists and Impressionists of the 19th century.

Van Gogh’s works is ordered chronologically into five different eras of his life and works: Paris, Arles, The Netherlands, Auvers-sur-Oise and Saint-Remy.

The atmosphere

The museum’s main building was conceived by Gerrit Rietveld, and completed by his partners after he passed away. its was opened to the public in 1973, after that, the exposition wings changed to elliptical rooms by Kisho Kurokawa in 1999.Both styles gives the visitors a great atmosphere to appreciate the feeling of the arts works, this is why it one of the most visited museums in the world.You will always find  a moment to share the genius of this painter with your friends and family using the museum’s free wifi.
